In a major turn of events, the Wisconsin Badgers landed a commitment from 2028 five-star defensive lineman Jalanie George on Thursday, marking the school’s biggest recruiting win under head coach Luke Fickell.

Ranked No. 15 player in the class by ESPN, the No. 23 player by the Rivals Composite, and the No. 27 player on the 247Sports Composite, George has accumulated 36 offers. Back in the spring, the Badgers were an afterthought, as George had a top six of Auburn, Ohio State, Washington, Miami, Oklahoma, and Florida.

However, Wisconsin continued to go after George hard, and the Badgers also landed commitments from two of his high school teammates in the 2027 class: three-star defensive lineman Yahzeen Zion and three-star linebacker Nathan Jones.

In the summer, the Washington Huskies had been the perceived favorites for the five-star, and even held crystal balls from multiple analysts to commit there.

But the Badgers had been making major momentum in George’s recruitment heading into the Fall, and hosted him on a visit for their first home game in Week 2. Jones then set a top group that included the Badgers, and On3’s Brandon Huffman and Steve Wiltfong moved their crystal ball predictions to Wisconsin last week.

On Thursday, George committed to the Badgers, becoming their third commitment in the 2028 class, joining Florida four-star linebacker Cale Britt and in-state three-star offensive lineman Brock Barrows.
