Aaron Rodgers, Mike McCarthy get into screaming match during Steelers-Browns game
· Yahoo Sports
On Sept. 20, the Pittsburgh Steelers lost to the New England Patriots by 17 points, and quarterback Aaron Rodgers delivered a backhanded assessment of head coach Mike McCarthy’s game plan.
“In a game like today where there wasn’t a lot of flow to it, we need to be better, and it starts with me,” Rodgers said. “Like, making sure that Mike knows what’s working and what’s not working. The coaches know, so that we can call stuff that gives us a better chance.”

Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio described Rodgers’s press conference comments as “passive-aggressive.”
Well, what we saw during the Steelers’ Thursday Night Football matchup with the Cleveland Browns was just aggressive-aggressive.
In the first quarter, the Prime Video broadcast caught Rodgers gesturing toward the Steelers sideline in apparent frustration over not getting the play in on time.

“He did this a lot during Cincinnati last week, kind of looking over to the bench,” play-by-play legend Al Michaels said. As he said it, viewers could hear Rodgers screaming, “What the f*ck?! Call it!”
“Yeah, he’s not happy,” Michaels so astutely concluded.
Then, the Prime Video cameras panned to McCarthy, who appeared to say, “F*cking a**hole.”
To be fair, the adrenaline of an NFL game lends itself to intense outbursts like this that wouldn’t happen in any other setting and shouldn’t necessarily be overblown. Just ask Andy Reid and Travis Kelce. But McCarthy and Rodgers have a complicated history, so any tension between those two particular guys is going to raise eyebrows.
McCarthy and Rodgers won a Super Bowl together during their 13-year tenure as head coach and quarterback, respectively, with the Green Bay Packers. They reportedly had an ugly falling out before the Packers fired McCarthy in December 2018.
In January, after NBC’s newest media darling Mike Tomlin stepped down, the Steelers hired McCarthy as their new head coach. Rodgers signed a one-year contract in May, reuniting with McCarthy.
“The other aspect that I think is still a feeling out process is Rodgers and McCarthy are like that ex you ended up getting back together with after a long time,” Jordan Rodgers, Aaron’s brother, said on First Take last week. “You’re like, ‘Hey, things are better. We’re different people. We’re still trying to figure out those quirks that we had when we were in a relationship.’ So, I think they’re still trying to feel out who they want to be based on what they both are capable of in this second iteration of their relationship.”
Rodgers, a four-time NFL MVP, has confirmed that this season will be his final NFL season. McCarthy just has to make this remarriage work for a few more months before Rodgers disappears from public life to start a family with his mysterious wife.
