The Ohio State Buckeyes are ranked No. 1 in the AP Top 25 Poll heading into Austin, Texas to take on No. 4 Arch Manning and the Texas Longhorns on Saturday night.

Buckeyes quarterback Julian Sayin is coming off of a 320-yard, three touchdown performance against Ball State but NFL scouts have questioned his ceiling leading up to the Texas game.
On Friday, Big Ten Network lead analyst Charles Davis joined The Dan Patrick Show during which he addressed the Sayin NFL question, acknowledging it but also backing the Buckeyes quarterback (and picking the Buckeyes to win) as he prepares to head into hostile territory against the Longhorns.

“This team coming to town on Saturday is pretty darn good itself,” Davis said. “And you have a quarterback that will match the moment with it. Sayin is always going to be the kid that when we say, ‘I like this quarterback, I like this quarterback, what about Sayin?’
“I like him, but. That’s what we’re gonna say about the NFL stuff. I like him, but. Every time you say, ‘I like him, but,’ he’s putting another W up on the board. That’s a talented roster, Jeremiah Smith, the whole deal. This’ll be fun to watch, I think Ohio State sneaks out with a close win in this one.”
Sayin led the Buckeyes to a win last season, but only passed for 126 yards. He now has more experience under his belt, a big X-factor pointed out by analyst Kirk Herbstreit Saturday.
His fellow analyst, Davis, compared the Buckeyes’ schedule to an NFL team, adding that he thinks the organization also runs itself like an NFL team with little concern about playing anyone, anywhere, at any time.
“I think that they’re built for it,” Davis said. “I think they sneak out with a win, this’ll be like Troy Smith going there a few years ago (in 2006).”
Kickoff between the two NCAA powerhouses is set for just after 7:30 p.m. ET.
