The New York Jets are expecting one of their most intriguing young offensive players to make an immediate impact Sunday when the team has their season NFL season opener against the Tennessee Titans.

First-round tight end Kenyon Sadiq missed valuable time during the summer because of injury, limiting his opportunities to build chemistry with the offense and prepare for his first NFL season.

That makes his availability for the season opener particularly important for a Jets offense looking to establish its identity under Frank Reich. Now, with the regular season here, Sadiq is expected to be thrown into the fire against the Tennessee Titans, and Aaron Glenn doesn't seem concerned.

"He's ready to go. I expect him to go out there and play well," Glenn said.

Sadiq returned to practice this week and was listed without an injury designation on the Jets' final injury report, clearing the way for his regular-season debut. The timing makes his first game particularly interesting. Sadiq has had fewer live reps than he would have liked during the offseason, but the Jets selected him in the first round for a reason.

His athleticism and ability to create mismatches could give Frank Reich another weapon alongside Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall.

Now comes the first real test. Sadiq won't have the luxury of easing into the season. If he's ready to go, as Glenn expects, the Jets will see just how quickly their prized young tight end can translate his potential into production when the games finally count.
