Seahawks rookie Jadarian Price to face four elite run defenses in 2026

· Yahoo Sports

Seattle Seahawks rookie running back Jadarian Price will face his share of elite run defenses next season.

The Seahawks selected Price with the No. 32 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Price will get the chance to start at running back for Seattle from the onset of his career, with Zach Charbonnet set to miss the start of next season with a torn ACL.

Price is predicted to be a top candidate to win the 2026 AP Offensive Rookie of the Year award. With a big year expected to be on the horizon for the Notre Dame product, let’s take a look at the best run defenses that he will face in 2026.

Week 1: New England Patriots

The Patriots have a pair of star defensive tackles in Milton Williams and Christian Barmore that have the speed and the skills to make life difficult for Price in his attempts to cut up the middle in the Seahawks’ home opener against New England.

No running back that the Patriots faced rushed for more than 53 yards when Williams played last season. He played in 12 games in 2026. The Patriots as a team allowed the sixth-fewest rushing yards in the league last season with 1,729. Price will be challenged in his welcome to the NFL matchup against the defending Super Bowl champions.

Week 6: Denver Broncos

The Broncos were one of the best defenses in the NFL last season, and their work against the run was exemplary. The Broncos were only outpaced by the Jacksonville Jaguars for fewest rushing yards allowed last season with 1,548.

Denver lost DT John Franklin-Myers in free agency this offseason, but have first-team All-Pro DT Zach Allen leading their oppositional front against opposing run games.

Week 5, 12: San Francisco 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers did finish No. 11 in the league in rushing yards allowed last season with 1,833. However, the 49ers did not have four-time first-team All-Pro linebacker Fred Warner available for 11 games of the year.

With a healthier team in 2026, San Francisco figures to have a great defense that will make life difficult for Price everywhere, whether up the middle, or making his way to the sideline with former AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year Nick Bosa and company waiting in the wings.

Week 7: Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs were one of only nine teams in the NFL that held opposing rushers to four yards per carry last season. The Chiefs were effective against the run in 2025 and are expected to be one of the most formidable Super Bowl contenders next season, which figures to light a spark in the defense.

Kansas City drafted highly-touted DT Peter Woods in this year’s draft, which gives them a young, talented interior defensive lineman that will be another hurdle for Price to clear next season, in addition to star DT Chris Jones.
