The New York Jets came into the 2026 NFL offseason with a very clear need at wide receiver. They needed more than Garrett Wilson leading the charge, and they addressed this need early during the 2026 NFL Draft.

After taking David Bailey and Kenyon Sadiq in Round 1, the Jets traded back into Round 1 with the San Francisco 49ers to acquire Omar Cooper Jr. out of Indiana to be the new WR2.

That was a nice move, but are the Jets actually done addressing their wide receiver room this offseason? ESPN's Aaron Schatz believes that there's still more work to be done in the WR room for the Jets before 2026.

Jets urged to explore WR additions even after Omar Cooper pick

"The Jets have a star pass catcher in Garrett Wilson and brought in first-round pick Omar Cooper Jr., but right now, the third starting wideout is set to be Adonai Mitchell," Schatz writes.

With the Jets leaning on Adonai Mitchell as their third WR, there are some big questions about the WR room after Wilson and Cooper.

Mitchell has high upside, but a low floor. He's yet to reach his potential, and with the Jets likely needing more production right away, the offense could use a better WR3.

Looking at their depth chart after Mitchell, Arian Smith, Isaiah Williams, Irvin Charles, and a few others aren't nearly enough to feel confident about going forward.

In free agency, the Jets could look to add Tyreek Hill, Stefon Diggs, Deebo Samuel, Curtis Samuel, Jauan Jennings, DeAndre Hopkins, or Keenan Allen as a few of the best options still available.

Cooper was a nice pickup and will form a nice pairing with Wilson. But, realistically, the Jets need another WR or two to feel confident about this WR room heading into 2026.
