Jaguars projected starting defense after first free agency wave
· Yahoo Sports
Following the initial wave of NFL free agency, what does the Jacksonville Jaguars' current starting defensive lineup look like?
Overall, it's been a quiet free agency period for the Jaguars. The one outside free agent addition made by the Jaguars took place on the offensive side of the ball, with the team signing running back Chris Rodriguez.

However, before the legal tampering period window opened last week, the Jaguars made two key re-signings, bringing back Montaric Brown and Dennis Gardeck, which impacts what these starting lineups look like.
What this lineup looks like today may not be what it will look like come training camp, with additions still able to be made and the NFL draft taking place. But what this exercise does do is provide us with insight into the current state of the Jaguars' roster.

Jaguars projected starting defense after the first wave of free agency
Defensive line: Josh Hines-Allen, Arik Armstead, DaVon Hamilton, Travon Walker
Obviously, there is a strong foundation here, but depth at both the end and tackle positions is needed. James Gladstone recently discussed the defensive front, specifically how the team is trying to get more pass rush consistency from that unit this season.
Linebacker: Ventrell Miller, Foye Oluokun, Dennis Gardeck
Gladstone detailed the Jaguars' plan at linebacker without Devin Lloyd, and essentially told us that this would be the starting trio when the defense is lined up in its base 4-3 look.
Cornerback: Travis Hunter, Jourdan Lewis, Montaric Brown
Retaining Brown really solidified this position for the Jaguars. The team also has Jarrian Jones available as well. We could still see the Jaguars add to cornerback in the draft, but it is no longer a must.
Safety: Eric Murray, Antonio Johnson
Andrew Wingard is a free agent, but Johnson, who really impressed last season, can step into that full-time starting role. Caleb Ransaw and Rayuan Lane can compete for that third safety role, which we see utilized in Anthony Campanile's defense. Gladstone could still make an addition here, given Lane and Ransaw's inexperience.
