NORMAN — Oklahoma men's basketball was omitted from the NCAA Tournament field on Selection Sunday.

OU was the first team out of the field and was passed by for Miami (OH), NC State, SMU and Texas.

The 19-15 Sooners won 8 of their last 11 games — an incredible run after losing nine straight — but ultimately came up short. OU coach Porter Moser, who will be retained for the 2026 season, has now failed to make the tournament in four of his five seasons following his hiring in 2021 to succeed Lon Kruger.

Moser led Loyola Chicago to the Final Four in 2018 and the Sweet Sixteen in 2021 but has only gotten the Sooners in the field once.

The Sooners were projected as the first team out the field of 68 by ESPN insider Joe Lunardi in his final bracketology update on Sunday.

"Hopefully on Sunday, I feel confident, I really do," Moser said on Friday night. "You never want it out of your hands. This team, 10 quad one and two wins, not limping in. I think that's the biggest message. Greatest tournament in the world. You want to see teams that are hot.”
