Dear Roker Report,

We’ve been pretty poor for weeks now, bar the odd game.

Visit extract-html.com for more information.

Am I worried? Yes. Is it just a matter of coasting along for the last eight or nine games because it looks like we’re safe from relegation? Yes.

I understand looking to next season, but we have a great chance to push on and aim for the top half of the league instead of looking down like the bad old days.

Let’s not lose the momentum we’ve built up since the playoffs!

No more moaning! Just give the skunks a good game next week (and a win, of course).

Keep the faith. ‘Til the end and FTM forever.

John Robson

Ed’s Note [Phil]: Hi, John. Thank you for your letter.

I agree that we seem to be limping as opposed to sprinting towards the finishing line — not entirely unexpected, given our injury situation, lack of goal threats and patchy form — but I still believe that fifty points is an achievable target and given some of the fixtures on the horizon, I think we’ve got an excellent chance of reaching that total.

The derby will be a very tough task but if we can get something out of it, we can hopefully head into the international break in a good place before regrouping for the final swing of league games.

There’s a lot to play for and I hope that message is being transmitted from the coaching staff to the players.

Dear Roker Report,

I actually think we played pretty well on at times on Saturday and given we’ve been ravaged by injuries, it’s not exactly a shock that we lost — yet all I’m seeing are over-the-top reactions to the result.

Where did the ego come from that people get so angry after losing to a good, established team like Brighton? It’s not like we were battered.

Perspective required for the whingers.

Ed’s Note [Phil]: Hi, Ian. Thank you for getting in touch.

I agree that we played quite well on Saturday — until falling 0-1 behind, that is, and then we seemed to lose our shape, our composure and our attacking threat.

I thought Brighton were quite good at times but the goal we conceded was absolutely infuriating and the fact the game was ultimately decided by such a scrappy passage of play following Chris Rigg’s VAR-denied opener made it a tough one to take.

Overall, I didn’t feel there was a great deal in the game but had we taken some of the chances we carved out in the first half, it could’ve easily been a different story. That’s the way it goes, sadly.
