Michael Irvin adds fuel to Cowboys fire in rivalry with Eagles
· Yahoo Sports
As one of the best rivalries in the NFL, there’s no love lost between the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles. It’s a hatred driven by fans, but it’s also fueled by coaches and players, and perhaps no former Cowboy embodies that animosity more than Michael Irvin, who lived inside the rivalry.
Irvin is a Cowboys fan through and through, he bleeds blue, so when he was introduced on NFL Network’s ‘Good Morning Football’ show that was live from Philadelphia on Monday morning, he faced more wrath from Eagles fans in attendance. True to his personality, Irvin didn’t shy away from the boos but embraced the hate.

The Hall of Fame wide receiver has more reason than most to despise the Eagles and their fans after they cheered while he was hurt. Irvin was lying on the old Veteran’s Stadium turf in 1999 with a spinal injury that caused him to retire from the game, and the crowd was all too happy to see him carted off.
Irvin had to know he was in for some razzing while in the City of Brotherly Love, and he arrived unafraid to root for his team. He was also able to find plenty of Cowboys fans in attendance to back his cause.
Irvin knew he was going to get heckled and leaned into the fun.
Good ribbing aside, this is a big game for both teams. Cowboys and Eagles fans won’t agree on much, but Monday Night Football’s outcome could essentially end one team’s goals of winning the NFC East. The loser will be 2-5, fading further away from a possible playoff berth, while the winner gets bragging rights and stays in the hunt.
Any game between the Eagles and Cowboys is a big event, and Michael Irvin’s presence just added to the tension.
