Green Bay Packers: Keisean Nixon believes the NFL has it out for Jordan Love after 20-17 loss to Detroit Lions
· Yahoo Sports
The Green Bay Packers are not using the officiating from their game against the Detroit Lions as an excuse for their 20-17 loss. Everyone watching the game knows, as well as they do, that they had their chances to win the contest. Unfortunately, bad mistakes (like Josh Jacobs dropping a touchdown pass) played a huge role in the defeat.
That being said, the blatant discrepancy in which the referees officiated the Lions and Packers defenses was so obvious that even national media members called this game the worst example of officiating so far in the NFL this season.

Particularly, Green Bay’s defense was flagged multiple times for roughing the passer on plays in which, in the eyes of everyone but the officials, they did not commit any errors. Meanwhile, Jordan Love continued to get throttled by an opposing defense with no flag thrown.

Love was only sacked once in the game, but was also hit multiple times in ways that were far more violent than how the Packers defense hit Lions quarterback Jared Goff.
When asked about the roughing the passer penalties after the game, Green Bay cornerback Keisean Nixon accused the NFL and the officials for simply not liking Love:
#Packers Keisean Nixon on some of the penalties in the game, no calls for Jordan Love and explains the bizarre one where the ref threw a flag when laying on his back.
“We can’t leave it in the ref’s hands. They clearly don’t like Jordan Love, they throw none for him.”

“We can’t leave it in the ref’s hands. They clearly don’t like Jordan Love, they throw none for him. So, I don’t know. They had the crazy penalty with the ref got kicked in the stomach. But [the Lions ball carrier] tried to keep running so all we know is keep playing through the whistle, and there was no whistle. So that was a crazy call.
“It is what it is. We can’t leave it in the refs’ hands. We gotta keep playing ball.”
Clearly, Green Bay’s defenders are confused as to why the officials do not call the game fairly. However, they also know that bad calls are things that they, as a team, need to overcome.
Almost certainly, fans will be keeping a close eye on how Thursday night’s game is officiated as the Packers have a quick turnaround this week.
