The Red Wings trailed by one with less than 20 seconds remaining in the third period. Detroit brought the puck into the offensive zone, needing a moment of magic. Dylan Larkin found DeBrincat across the slot, and the recently extended Detroit star did not miss. He completed the third-period comeback and forced overtime.

As the NHL’s social media team pointed out, this was DeBrincat’s 300th career goal. It also sent this game into overtime, securing Detroit a huge point in the standings. Unfortunately, they were unable to get the second point. The Kraken won in a shootout by the score of 4-3.
Detroit had entered this game with two consecutive wins under its belt. The Red Wings defeated the Philadelphia Flyers and the San Jose Sharks before taking on Seattle. As a result of this loss, the Winged Wheel has fallen to 3-3-3 on the young season.
Detroit remains at the bottom of the Atlantic Division with this defeat. In fact, they are still the only team in the division with fewer than 10 points this year. Still, it was a gusty performance from Detroit in the final frame to clinch a point.
DeBrincat and the Red Wings will hit the ice once again on October 22nd when they take on the Vancouver Canucks.
