The Minnesota Wild are looking to return to the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 2027. Minnesota won a playoff series last season following their blockbuster trade for Quinn Hughes last December. If Kirill Kaprizov has anything to say about it, the Wild will make a good run at returning to the playoffs.

Kaprizov scored his 10th goal of the season in Sunday’s win over the Columbus Blue Jackets. His power-play goal in the second period gave Minnesota the goal they needed to claim a big 2-1 win. And it achieved a bit of history for the Wild star in the process.

The 29-year-old Kaprizov is now the fastest player in Wild franchise history to reach the 10-goal mark in a single season, according to NHL Public Relations. He needed just nine games to score 10 goals this year. Previously, the record was held by Brian Rolston, who needed 12 games to reach 10 goals in 2006-07.

The Wild star is also the first player in the league this season to score 10 goals. Entering play on Sunday, 18 players in the NHL had more than five goals, and five players had more than six, including Kaprizov. The next-best goal scorer in the league currently is Winnipeg Jets star Kyle Connor, who has eight goals.

Minnesota knows the sort of talent they have on their hands. They signed Kaprizov to a monster $136 million contract before the 2025-26 campaign. That contract kicked in back in July, and pays him $17 million a season until 2033-34.

Kaprizov will look to continue his incredible start on Tuesday when the Wild take on Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers.
