In their first game of the season in an true outdoor stadium, the Houston Texans may have to deal with some adverse weather conditions when they play the Tennessee Titans on Sunday in Nashville.

The noon kickoff at Nissan Stadium could be impacted by Hurricane Isaias, the first Atlantic hurricane of the season that is expected to make landfall near the Alabama-Florida border on Friday night.

Current track estimates have the storm heading north through Alabama and Mississippi on Saturday, which could impact that night's titanic college football tilt with No. 2 Georgia and No. 6 Alabama in Tuscaloosa, and going through Nashville early Sunday morning. By that time, the intensity will have died down and will just be a depression, but still will impact Tennessee. The National Weather Service in Nashville reported Thursday morning that it expects the area to receive between 1-3 inches of rain and wind gusts up to 40 mph with the heaviest period of rain coming down Saturday night.

Sunday's forecast for Nashville calls for a rainy day with highs in the lower 70s with lows at about 60 degrees and rain chances dropping dramatically later in the evening.

The winless Texans are 0-3 playing under the closed roof of Reliant Stadium this season and their only road game - a loss at Indianapolis - was played with Lucas Oil Stadium's retractable roof open on a calm and sunny 70-degree day.

Playing under a constantly closed roof in Houston means the Texans rarely deal with rain on gamedays. They had a rough time in snowy conditions in last year's playoff loss at New England, and the last time they had to play at least partly through fairly heavy rain, they got trounced on the road by the New York Jets 30-6 in 2023.
