A big part of Sean Payton’s offense is their usage of running backs. Payton places heavy emphasis on the run game, so it’s important for the Denver Broncos to have their running backs available for their games. So when both JK Dobbins and RJ Harvey landed on the injury report before their Week 3 clash against the Los Angeles Rams, there was some concern.

Thankfully, it seems like both players are back and ready for action. After being listed as limited during their Wednesday practice, both Dobbins and Harvey were full participants during the Broncos’ Thursday practice. This likely sets them up for a positive injury designation after Friday, given that they both fully participate in practice tomorrow.

Dobbins and Harvey are used regularly in the Broncos offense, with Dobbins listed as the RB1 over Harvey. Last season, Dobbins reached 772 yards and four touchdowns despite playing in just 10 games. Meanwhile, Harvey was the team’s main touchdown threat, leading the team with seven rushing touchdowns that year. This season, Harvey has missed one game, while Dobbins has played in both of Denver’s games.
The Broncos’ running backs will face arguably their toughest test on the year against the Los Angeles Rams. The biggest threat for Denver is the big man in the middle. Aaron Donald made his return in Week 2 for the Rams. Despite playing with a snap limit, Donald made his presence felt both in the pass game and the run game. With the Rams planning to increase Donald’s workload, it’s more likely for the Broncos’ RBs to face the two-time Defensive Player of the Year.
