Michigan State DC Joe Rossi previews Nebraska matchup

Michigan State football is eyeing a bounce back this weekend against Nebraska. After dropping their first loss of the season to Notre Dame, the Spartans are looking to take down the Cornhuskers inside of Spartan Stadium.

While the offense struggled, the defense had stayed strong against the Fighting Irish, but still had plenty to still work on. Defensive coordinator Joe Rossi is tasked with making the necessary adjustments to have the team ready for their first Big Ten contest of the year.
See what Rossi had to say in his media availability ahead of the matchup with Nebraska:
- "When we first got here, I felt he (Jordan Hall) was pressed into service early. He had ability, could make plays, needed to clean up his game. He needed to be better fundamentally. First to second year, he split time. Last year, was a captain, leader."
- "We had conversations, he got better. This Sunday, I texted him three things he needs to get better at. He has a career beyond college football."
- "You got to go do your job. If you make a play, you can flip momentum like that."
- "All we can do is go to work to fix them. All we have to do is finish the tackle on top the ball carrier."
- "If a guy is smart and a high processor, and he works really hard, those are the guys that will hit their ceiling. If you find guys that you have to beg to work."
- "I don't trust any of the opposing coaches. Everyone who's questionable, I'm saying their playing. If it says 'out,' we probably won't plan for them."
- "Derrick Simmons is going to be really good. He's been practicing at a really high level for three, four weeks. He has to be consistent, which he has been. His ceiling is an All-Big Ten defensive tackle."
- "Worm (Ben Roberts) is disruptive in the interior, he's added pass rush, got some hits. It's great when your nose guard can get pass rush."
- "Coach Po (Hank Poteat) is one of the best coaches I've been around. Just because you drill it over and over, doesn't mean it is an instinct yet."
