Many criticized some of the decisions the Boston Red Sox made when they parted ways with Alex Cora and other coaches in the organization.

Instead of those decisions failing to work out as planned, the Red Sox completely defied the odds, making the playoffs after a historic second half.
Many people deserve credit, but ownership and Craig Breslow have to feel they made the right decision.
Speaking to reporters after making the playoffs, Breslow had a lot to say about how he feels. He added that he believed in the players the Red Sox had and that he had to change the environment to put them in a position to succeed.
“I believed in the players that we had,” Breslow said, per The Athletic.
“I felt it was really important that we acted definitively and decisively when we did so that we could create an environment around the players that was supportive, that would allow them to thrive. And they responded. While there may have been some people that questioned what this group was capable of, I think they answered resoundingly.”
It’s awesome to hear Breslow say things like this, but it’s even better that he was given the opportunity to make some of these changes.
Some ownership groups would want to see out the year, but the Red Sox decision-makers understood that this was one of the better teams in baseball talent-wise, even if it hadn’t shown that.
It’ll be interesting to see how things look in the playoffs, but regardless, it was a very impressive second half, and everybody should be happy with that.
