Chris Sutton questions Rangers title credentials despite Celtic Park derby victory

Chris Sutton was scathing about Celtic following Sunday’s derby defeat, but that did not stop him taking a swipe at Rangers later that evening.

Martin O’Neill’s side suffered a third consecutive defeat as Rangers secured a 1-0 victory at Celtic Park, increasing the pressure surrounding the Hoops heading into the international break.
Sutton was heavily critical of his former club’s performance, but the former Celtic striker remains unconvinced about Rangers when it comes to the Premiership title race.
Appearing alongside Robbie Savage on BBC Radio 5 Live’s 606 on Sunday evening, Sutton was asked who he believes will win the league.
Savage asked: “Who do you think will win the title, Chris?”
Sutton replied: “Based on the last 15 years…”
Savage then told him to judge the situation on this season, with Sutton pointing towards the importance of January business.
Sutton said: “It’s hard to say, Rob, because the January transfer window is so important.”
Savage pushed Sutton to make a call based on the situation as it currently stands.
Savage asked: “If you have it [transfer window] right now, who would you say would think will win it right now?”
Sutton replied: “Well, Celtic are ahead, and Rangers… I mean, George [Rangers fan] will even admit that Rangers always have a bit of a choke at the end, George, don’t you? Will it be different this season, though?”
