2026 BMW PGA Championship: Patrick Reed seen flexing left hand after withdrawal

Patrick Reed withdrew because of a reported injury after playing nine holes in Round 2 of the BMW PGA Championship on Friday.

The Race to Dubai leader was seen flexing his left hand on the broadcast as he walked behind a cart near the 10th tee box at Wentworth. He was again shown flexing the same hand as he sat down and was driven off.

The DP World Tour posted on X that Reed's decision to withdraw stemmed from an injury.

The 2018 Masters winner carded a front-nine 44 and went without a birdie on his second round before the WD.

He started the round with a triple bogey and followed it with a pair of doubles and two more squares.

Commentators wondered if he had hit a root when trying to work himself out of the woods on the par-4 ninth hole.

The trouble-filled second round for Reed followed a 4-under 68 on Thursday that saw him just two shots off the lead.

Reed, who has played 17 DP World Tour events in 2026, leads Rory McIlroy in the Race to Dubai after finishing T-2 at last week's Irish Open.
