Uncertainty filled the air before the Kansas City Chiefs kicked off their season opener from Arrowhead Stadium on Monday night. Yet, Patrick Mahomes and Co. quieted all doubts with a 31-10 win over the Denver Broncos. If anything, the win was the latest sign that this year’s Chiefs team could very well be different, possibly even good enough to return to Super Bowl contention. But to get there, they may need some more help. The good news is, an ideal solution could be right around the corner.

NFL Insider Suggests Kansas City Chiefs Could Sign Tyreek Hill

There’s been a lack of a clear-cut No. 1 target, aside from perhaps tight end Travis Kelce, but in Andy Reid’s heyday with the Chiefs, they had the former, plus Tyreek Hill working in tandem to keep defenses honest.
Now, as ESPN’s NFL insider Jeremy Fowler suggests, there’s a chance that a reunion with Hill returning to Kansas City is still alive.
“Also on the Chiefs front, free agent receiver Tyreek Hill remains fond of the Chiefs, and a potential in-season signing would make a lot of sense. He should be closer to playing around October.”

Hill is still recovering from last season’s torn ACL. Before the season kicked off, the former five-time All-Pro admitted he had “no power” in his surgically-repaired left leg. Some have even advised him to take the full season off. Yet, the competitor in him is keeping the dream of playing in 2026 alive, and it could happen with the Chiefs, where he won a Super Bowl.
The 32-year-old played just four games last season, catching 21 passes for 265 yards and a touchdown. While he likely wouldn’t have a chance at posting another 1,000-yard season in 2026, returning to a familiar offense led by his old QB could lead to an easier acclimation period than if he were to join another contender. In essence, Kansas City could be the perfect fit once Hill returns to health.
