The Minnesota Vikings lost Kyler Murray during the season opener after a brutal hit led to a concussion. He's currently in concussion protocol and is questionable for Week 2's matchup against the Chicago Bears.
When it comes to the status of Murray for Week 2, there is plenty of uncertainty. But beyond his status, what is the Vikings' plan at quarterback this week, depending on how Murray's health plays out?
According to ESPN's Dan Graziano, the Vikings plan to start Murray if he clears concussion protocol; if he doesn't, Carson Wentz will start.
Vikings plan for Week 2 starting QB revealed
"Based on what I've been able to gather, my sense is that Kyler Murray will start if he clears concussion protocol in time, and Carson Wentz is likely to start if Murray isn't clear in time," Graziano writes.
This report from Graziano makes the Vikings' plan for the quarterback position clear. If Murray is good to go, he's the starter.
Since this isn't a Thursday game, Murray does have a chance to be cleared from concussion protocol in time for the Week 2 matchup on Sunday.
But if he is not good to go, then the Vikings have a simple plan to make Wentz the starter. The former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback looked good in Week 1, as he and Justin Jefferson had a strong connection in their 39-22 win.

Wentz is a solid veteran quarterback who can get the Vikings into the win column. Considering how good the defense can be, the Vikings just need a solid starter who limits the damage.
J.J. McCarthy, while he might have higher upside, has a much lower floor than Wentz. With the Vikings looking to secure a win in Week 2, Wentz gives them a better chance than McCarthy.
Vikings fans should expect to see Murray on the field if he's cleared from concussion protocol, but if he doesn't clear, then Wentz is expected to be the starter.
