A new report opens up the possibility that the Pittsburgh Steeles will trade Joey Porter Jr., and the Detroit Lions are a team that should definitely make a call.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport, Porter has requested a trade and is open to playing for another team as the two sides remain unable to get a contract extension done.
Adding to that, the Steelers are apparently open to listening to trade offers, although their asking price, which might be a first-round pick, has not drawn interest.
"Sources say Porter, who had previously requested a trade from the Steelers , is open to playing elsewhere, and an early-season trade is very possible," Schefter and Rapoport reported.
"The Steelers have been open to listening to offers for Porter, sources say. But there has not been notable interest at Pittsburgh's asking price of a premium draft pick -- possibly in the first round -- and no serious trade talks have developed despite the Steelers' willingness to deal him," the report adds.
Why Lions could trade for Joey Porter Jr.
Detroit's secondary has a major question mark at one of the boundary spots.
After cutting Terrion Arnold following his legal troubles, the Lions are set to start one of Roger McCreary, Rock Ya-Sin or Ennis Rakestraw Jr. opposite D.J. Reed.
The problem with that trio is McCreary is better suited as a slot cornerback, Ya-Sin is a backup and Rakestraw is totally unproven after two injury-plagued seasons.
Porter would be an instant and massive upgrade for Detroit and would put the Lions in a better position to compete for big things in 2026.
The Lions recently opened up a ton of cap space, so they have the means to make a move and have a decent financial situation in the next few years, so they can make an extension with Porter work.
With the Lions in win-now mode, they need to at least consider making a big move for a cornerback who would greatly improve their defense.
