Notre Dame 52, Rice 0: Online Overreactions

With a game like that on Saturday afternoon, it’s a little tough to find much overreaction to anything (thank the Good Lord we were the farthest thing from another Marshall or NIU situation). The Notre Dame Fighting Irish absolutely FRIED the Rice Owls on Saturday afternoon. It was just never close, and where we saw the second and third-stringers most of the second half.

ND vs. Rice: A Semblance of Online Overreactions Below
It’s not really anything I saw during the game, but unfortunately we all collectively had to clench going into this game because of the past with Marcus Freeman. We all had too much PTSD from his Week 2 follies. So, I, and probably many of you, overreacted to playing a far inferior opponent. But, the Irish won so handily that they shut out rice AND covered that huge 44.5 point spread.

Might just be a Miami fan trolling. But Carr got the score to 49-0 at the start of the second half and then immediately went out of the game. That’s more like Leave No Doubt than it is stat padding, and “stat padding” is starting to lose its meaning because it is used WAY too much nowadays. But all of that is just me.

We have to watch all of this because it WAS Rice. However, it does seem like maybe we had a collective overreaction to Aneyas Williams basically getting the de facto keys to the backfield. It does seem early on that Nolan James moves maybe a bit more at RB1. The Irish still need to play some more opponents, and we might come back to this take. But, it is interesting to think about. Not sure if we demote Williams yet, but posing the question is not entirely out of line. It’s a very slight overreaction right now.
