Hawthorne waited over two hours to prove to the Florida high school football world that it belongs.
Once the ball kicked off at 9:15 p.m. vs. Miami Northwestern, the Hornets made their statement in their typical fashion.

Hawthorne defeated Miami Northwestern 16-12 Thursday night at Annie Mae Phillips Stadium to improve to 4-0 on the 2026 season and hand the Bulls their first loss of the season.
The tone of the game changed drastically after Hawthorne QB and 2025 All-Area Small School Player of the Year Richard Roundtree suffered an ankle injury on the first drive.
He eventually returned, but he couldn’t move well in the pocket. Still, the Hornets used two touchdowns rushing from Dakarai Wiggins and two interceptions, including one at the goal line, from Ari Bentley to secure the victory.
