Seahawks Offer Loose Timeline On Sam Darnold Injury Update

The Seattle Seahawks started their season with a win, taking down the New England Patriots in a defensive war at Lumen Field, 13-10.
And they did it without Sam Darnold at quarterback.

Injured after just five plays, Darnold wasn't seen for the rest of the game and was ruled out just before halftime. That meant Drew Lock had to bus drive Seattle to a win...and he did.
Post-game all the attention was on Darnold as he was ruled out with a hip injury.
Some thought it could be a fracture, but that was ruled out, and the Seahawks have breathed a sigh of relief, as it doesn't appear Sam will miss significant time.

And as head coach Mike Macdonald stepped to the podium on Thursday, naturally, the first question was going to be about Darnold.
"No update, honestly," Macdonald said. "But its been positive news, so right now, we're just working through the extent of the injury and then putting a plan in place to get back rocking and rolling.
"So, silver lining, we have some extra time here, we'll get things back up and running Monday, so hopefully by them, we'll have a really accurate picture of plan of attack and what we'll do that week."
Darnold doesn't appear to be set to sit out for a prolonged period, which is good.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport posted on X that Darnold is "expected to miss next week's game" against the Arizona Cardinals and then added that the Super Bowl-winning quarterback could be back within a few weeks.

So, Seattle clearly got lucky here and it just goes to show how fickle football can be.
All of that preparation ahead of the season opener, and Darnold lasted five plays.
Luckily, Lock has skins on the wall as a starter, and did just enough to get the Seahawks over the line, although Drake Maye played his role with a woeful interception to end the game.
There's plenty of time between now and Seattle's next game, and Darnold's injury will dominate the landscape as we await further updates.
Macdonald said the franchise should know more by Monday, and by then fans will hopefully have a full picture of the timetable for Sam's return.
