Dion Dawkins has never forgotten about the Buffalo Bills’ 23-19 loss to the Houston Texans in a Week 12 matchup in the 2025 NFL season at Reliant Stadium in Houston.

While the score of that contest was not extremely one-sided, Dawkins and the Bills’ offensive line were thoroughly exposed by the Texans’ pass rush.

Buffalo allowed superstar quarterback Josh Allen to get sacked eight times for a loss of 70 yards. Allen went 24-of-34 with 253 passing yards and was intercepted twice in that game.

Dawkins and the Bills will finally get their chance to avenge that loss, as they will kick off their 2026 campaign on Sunday against the Texans at the same stadium. The five-time Pro Bowler offensive tackle surely has the date circled on his calendar.

“We got our behinds kicked,” Dawkins recalled the loss as he spoke to reporters on Thursday (h/t Jonathan Acosta of WGRZ.

With Will Anderson Jr. leading the Texans’ pass rush, Houston remains a huge threat to opposing offensive lines. The Bills are obviously wary of the threat that Anderson and company present, but they will prove their pass protection will not be as fickle this time around.

Last season, the Bills posted a 7.5 percent offensive sack rate, which ranks outside the top 10 in the league. Those eight sacks that Allen absorbed in the pocket against the Texans ended up pushing his total sacks taken for the season to 40 — the most in his NFL career.

Now under a new head coach in Joe Brady, the Bills are hoping Houston’s defense won’t be as effective as it was in the teams’ most recent meeting.
