Judge grants evidentiary hearing for Jerry Sandusky, new testimony expected

CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — Former Penn State assistant football coach Gerald ‘Jerry’ Sandusky is scheduled to return to a Centre County court for an evidentiary hearing.
The proceeding set for Tuesday, Sept. 8, is part of his ongoing challenge to his 2012 conviction for sexually abusing multiple boys. Sandusky was originally sentenced to serve 30 to 60 years in prison.

PREVIOUS COVERAGE: Sandusky files for new trial citing ‘altered’ testimony, memoriesAccording to court documents, the upcoming evidentiary hearing will include testimony from a victim of Sandusky who recanted his story in June 2025. Frank Fina, who helped prosecute the original case, is also scheduled to testify.
To be considered for a new trial, Sandusky and his legal team must meet four separate factors and demonstrate that new evidence would have yielded a different outcome at trial.
