The competition in training camp is about to ramp up for the Dallas Cowboys as they are about to share the practice field with the Los Angeles Rams. The intensity should be noticeable as the Rams are one of the favorites to unseat the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC West while the Cowboys are hoping to regain their stride and battle the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East.

Preseason scrimmages can be difficult for established veterans who are trying to ramp up for the regular season and suddenly find themselves in hard-hitting exchanges with unfriendly rivals. However, Cowboys cornerback Cobie Durant is looking forward to competing against the Rams. Durant played the first four years of his career with the Rams and he left the team in the offseason and signed a free agent contract with the Cowboys.
“I am very excited about this,” Durant said. “These are the same guys I went up against in practice for four years and they clearly have Matthew Stafford and the receivers and running backs to make key plays. Now I get to see exactly who I am playing with on the Cowboys. I am looking forward to it.”
Durant signed a one-year, $4 million contract with the Cowboys and he was largely looked at as a solid cover guy, but not one of the team’s dominant defenders. However, he has looked as good as any of the Cowboys’ defensive players at this point in training camp.
Durant is coming off a solid season with the Rams. He had 40 tackles, 7 passes defensed, 1 interception and 1 fumble recovery in 2025.
