Reports: Two five-star prospects set visits to Illinois

And Illinois has two of the brightest high school players in the country set for visits to Illinois, according to 247.
First, there’s 2027 guard NaVorro Bowman Jr. out of California. The son of former NFL All-Pro LB Navorro Bowman, he’s the 10th-best prospect in the country in 2027, according to 247Sports.

247 also reports he will visit Texas, Arizona and UConn.
Then look ahead to 2028, and 247’s 11th-best recruit is set to visit Illinois in late September. Dylan Betts is a five-star guard at IMG Academy in Florida. He’s also considering Michigan, North Carolina and Alabama.

Obviously, in 2026, read into high school recruiting what you want. Until they’re on campus and suiting up, it’s hard to get overly excited, but the fact that superstar prospects are looking at Illinois is a total 180 from a decade ago — and it’s a philosophical switch for Brad Underwood, who spent the last few seasons prioritizing foreign players and transfers.
