Cameron Ball's tenure with the Colts

The Colts signed Ball after the 2026 NFL draft as an undrafted free agent.

What to know about Cameron Ball

Ball has played 1,864 career college snaps on defense, which includes being a starter the past two years. He's routinely graded out well as a run defender throughout his career by PFF's metrics.

This past season, Ball recorded a career-high 21 pressures. The bulk of Ball's snaps have come lined up in the A or B gaps. He also has a good amount of special teams experience, playing 467 career snaps.

Ball was one of five Colts' UDFAs to receive over $200,000 in guaranteed money, a fairly significant amount when it comes to undrafted free agency.

Looking ahead to 2026 for Cameron Ball

The Colts reshaped the back end of this position group this offseason, trading for Colby Wooden, along with signing Jerry Tillery and Derrick Nnadi. Also returning is Adetomiwa Adebawore.

This has created a crowded room behind DeForest Buckner and Grover Stewart, which may make it difficult for Ball to make a true roster push.

That said, the Colts can get out of the Tillery and Nnadi deals during roster cutdowns. And when it comes to final roster spots, teams are often more willing to keep the young, high-upside player over a low-ceiling veteran. But for this to happen, Ball will have to consistently stand out over the summer if he's going to leapfrog Tillery and Nnadi on the depth chart.

The most likely landing spot for him remains the practice squad.
