Real Madrid superstar’s departure will allow club to make dream signing – report

The headline news of Friday is Michael Olise’s firm stand on signing for Real Madrid; the development has come rather out of the blue.

While both parties were flirting with each other for a significant time now, the Frenchman’s move to Spain was always considered complicated given how integral he is to the Bavarians’ project.

In fact, the only way out was reported to be the player directly informing Bayern Munich of his decision to leave. Now, however, the player appears willing to fight until the end and has already informed his teammates of his decision.

Real Madrid in a tricky situation

As confirmed by L’Equipe in a recent report, Real Madrid will launch an offer for Olise after the end of the ongoing FIFA World Cup. However, there may well be a nuance involved.

The French outlet reports that Real Madrid have not ruled out selling their star winger Vinicius Jr. this summer and remain open to parting ways with the player given how negotiations are at a standstill.

The Brazilian talisman’s departure, on that front, will clear the path for Olise’s arrival and allow the transfer to proceed.

It goes without saying that Vinicius’ departure is necessary for Olise to sign, but it does make it clear that it will go a long way toward facilitating the deal.

A future-defining decision

There is no doubt that Vinicius and Real Madrid both wish to continue working together. Financial differences in opinion, however, have hindered contract renewal talks.

As reported yesterday, there was a significant difference in the wages Real Madrid offered the player in their latest proposal and what the player demands – a figure along the lines of €6 million to €10 million.

Should an agreement not be reached in the coming weeks, Real Madrid are open to selling the player to ensure they do not lose him for free in a year’s time.

Concurrently, however, they do know he was one of the best players at the World Cup and do not want to lose him.

For Olise to arrive and Vinicius to leave would be a rather anti-climactic development, for it would weaken one wing to strengthen the other.

Needless to say, a critical decision is on Florentino Perez’s shoulders, one that could decide the course of the team’s future.
