The Los Angeles Rams had a great 2025 season, but one thing that held them back was their secondary unit who seemed to give up big plays at the worst times, and for whatever reason, they weren’t consistent. To be fair, at times L.A. defense was great all around, but that wasn’t often enough.

Going into this year the Rams are revamping their defense and that should lead to competition and roster battles all throughout. That’s a good thing as it should lead the Rams to having the best roster they can in 2026.

Some players we have come to know may take on new roles or may not even be on the team when the season starts. Either way, L.A.’s offense and defense should push each other and themselves and that hopefully will lead to positive results for the Rams. That’s the plan.

Please comment on whatever you want. I hope you had a great holiday. Happy Monday. Thank you for checking out Turf Show Times!

Ty Hamilton knows exactly what he must accomplish for the Rams (ramblinfan)

“A failure? Not really. Hamilton was tasked with absorbing multiple roles, techniques, and responsibilities along the defensive front. On the Rams’ roster, you have to master the role before you get to play it.

Hamilton knows he’ll have to make himself useful this season. It’s no longer enough to be a ‘depth player’ now. Rookie Tim Keenan III was drafted to fill precisely that role. Hamilton must show he is ready to make an impact, starting in training camp.“

Coach Ron Gould has proven to be an asset the Rams never knew they needed (ramblinfan)

“Even as Gould gladly cedes the spotlight, he is oozing with humble confidence, a quality that has translated to Rams running backs. His character, not just his teaching, has helped turn L.A.’s rushing attack completely around. Despite veering away from bigger-bodied backs, his success with Kyren Williams and, last season, Blake Corum as well, speaks for itself.”

How well do the Rams avoid ‘dead runs’ compared to other teams? (ramswire)

“The Los Angeles Rams had the most efficient run game in the NFL in 2025, but that doesn’t mean they were always churning out big plays. In fact, head coach Sean McVay’s teams rank in the middle of the pack in avoiding “dead runs,” according to NFL analyst Ryan Paganetti.

McVay, the Rams ranked 12th among current NFL play-callers in the rate of rushing attempts that gained zero or fewer yards (aka, “dead runs”). Across 197 career games, just 18.1% of McVay’s designed runs have gone for no gain or worse, a rate of 4.48 such plays per game.“
