For the first time, the Coca-Cola FIFA World Cup Coin Toss Assistants are expanding beyond their traditional role, with select influential voices from across North America stepping onto the pitch.
For Fernández, the moment was more than a cameo in the grand World Cup stage.
"Fútbol has taken me from Guadalajara to places I never imagined and introduced me to incredible people along the way," Fernández said in a news release. "Being part of a moment as special as the FIFA World Cup 26 feels like a dream come true.
"After a year of chasing a loco dream and returning to professional fútbol, I’ve been reminded that the biggest rewards often come from taking the biggest chances. The passion, joy and sense of community that fútbol creates are unlike anything else, and I’m grateful to celebrate the game with Coca-Cola and fans from around the world. Porque al final del día, fútbol es vida."
The "fútbol is life" mantra is one of Fernández's catchphrases from his role as Dani Rojas on Ted Lasso.
