One player reportedly on the Spurs' list is Los Angeles Lakers forward Rui Hachimura. NBA insider Jake Fischer revealed the latest on the free agent market for Hachimura while reporting on “The Stein Line.”
“Brooklyn keeps coming up as a likely suitor, too, for the Lakers’ Rui Hachimura, league sources say. The Nets and Spurs are two teams we’ve heard have interest in adding Hachimura’s services,” Fischer wrote.
Hachimura put together a productive 2025-26 regular season, appearing in 68 games and averaging 11.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 0.6 steals, and 0.3 blocks per game. He also proved his efficiency by shooting 51.4% from the field and 44.3% from beyond the arc.
For the Spurs, adding Hachimura would provide another versatile piece to a roster built around Victor Wembanyama and Dylan Harper. His athleticism could make him an ideal replacement for Harrison Barnes while giving San Antonio another dependable veteran presence to complement its young core.
Hachimura is under a three-year, $51000000 contract with the Lakers with an average annual salary of $17000000. He is now an unrestricted free agent, and while the Lakers would prefer to retain him, doing so may prove difficult.
Los Angeles recently committed a significant salary to Austin Reaves with a maximum contract extension, leaving the franchise facing a challenging salary-cap situation. That financial pressure could create an opportunity for teams like the Spurs to make a competitive offer and potentially lure Hachimura away from the Lakers this offseason.
