Dozens of supporters packed Parkville Market in Hartford, where they came together to watch the match. The atmosphere was filled with energy and excitement after Mexico's victory. Mexican fans waved their flags proudly.
For many people, the World Cup represents more than just a sporting event, it is a chance to connect with their heritage and share a passion that goes beyond borders.
Nelly Banos, of Middletown, said the tournament allows her to celebrate her Mexican roots, even after living in the United States for more than 30 years.
"I'm so proud to be Mexican and represent our team. The tradition and love for football," Banos said. "My roots are in Mexico, but my heart is in the U.S."
The watch party brought together fans from a variety of backgrounds, united by their love of soccer and the excitement.

Louis Morocho, of Ikasa, said the World Cup creates a sense of camaraderie among supporters regardless of nationality.
"Soccer in itself is a passion," Morocho said. "If Mexico is playing, Ecuadorians, Peruvians; anybody can jump on and support Latin American soccer. That's the excitement. You never know who's going to win, and that's the fun part about it."
Parkville Market owner Carlos Mouta embraced the spirit of the tournament by painting his face with the colors of multiple national flags. A lifelong soccer fan, Mouta said his support goes beyond any one team.
"I'm definitely supporting the U.S., but I'm also supporting a bunch of other teams," Mouta said. "At the end of the day, I want the team that played the best to win. If somebody plays better, then they deserve the victory."
As World Cup festivities continue, local fans are already looking ahead to the United States' opening match against Paraguay on Friday night.
The contest is expected to draw another enthusiastic crowd of supporters to Parkville Market.
