World Environment Day 2026 Celebrated with Medicinal Plants Exhibition at Dr Kotnis Memorial Railway Hospital, Solapur

The Solapur Division of Central Railway organised an Aushadhi Vanaspati Pradarshani (Medicinal Plant Exhibition) at Dr. Kotnis Memorial Railway Hospital, Solapur as part of the celebrations of World Environment Day 2026, to promote environmental awareness, sustainable living and the health benefits of medicinal plants.
The exhibition showcased around 55 varieties of medicinal plants, providing visitors with valuable insights into the rich heritage of herbal medicine and environmental conservation. Each plant was carefully labeled with its scientific name, medicinal properties and health benefits, enabling visitors to gain a deeper understanding of their significance. Among the notable medicinal plants displayed were Tulsi, Giloy, Aloe Vera, Ashwagandha, Neem, Adulsa and Lemongrass, all of which are widely recognised for their therapeutic and wellness-promoting properties. Informative charts and posters were exhibited alongside the plants, highlighting their medicinal uses and encouraging the adoption of eco-friendly lifestyles. The exhibition served as an effective platform to create awareness about traditional herbal remedies and their role in preventive healthcare.

The key objectives of the exhibition were:
To promote awareness about medicinal plants and their health benefits.
To encourage plantation drives and environmental conservation.

To inspire individuals to plant and nurture at least one tree or sapling in their homes, workplaces, or surroundings.

The exhibition was graced by the presence of Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) as the chief guest which was inaugurated in the morning in the esteemed presence of the Additional Divisional Railway Manager (ADRM), Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS), and Assistant Chief Medical Superintendent (ACMS).
The exhibition remained open to visitors throughout the day and witnessed enthusiastic participation from railway staff, patients and members of the public. Many visitors expressed keen interest in medicinal plants and pledged to contribute towards a greener environment by planting and caring for trees and saplings and appreciated the initiative undertaken by the Railway Hospital. Through such awareness initiatives, Solapur Division of Central Railway continues to demonstrate its commitment towards environmental stewardship, public health awareness and sustainable development.
