Sasaki Throws Triple-Digits in 5 1/3 Innings Against Philadelphia, But Tanner Scott Gets JumpedAhead of Saturday's series win, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts put a lot of emphasis on Sasaki's comfort level on the mound in his last couple of starts.
He also noted that the velocity on his fastball, which had been staying consistent at 97-98 mph, had been the spearhead for most of his recent success.
Against the Phillies, Sasaki dialed up the heat on the radar gun.
He displayed the triple-digit numbers early on as he showcased a 100.1-mph heater during his nine-pitch at-bat against Kyle Schwarber to kick off his outing.
Though he wasn't constantly clocking his fastball at 100 mph, he averaged 98.5 against Philadelphia. That mark is 1.5 mph faster than his season average.

After giving up that earned run, Sasaki went on to retire the next 13 straight Phillies hitters.
The Phillies broke that streak in the sixth inning as Schwarber hit a soft single with one out. Trea Turner followed that up with a single of his own.
Roberts decided to pull the plug at 84 pitches, and Sasaki was greeted with a standing ovation from the Dodgers' faithful heading back into the dugout at Dodger Stadium.
The Dodgers held a 3-1 lead heading into the eighth inning, and Tanner Scott was given the responsibility of setting the Phillies down in order.
Unfortunately, Scott fell just one strike short of finishing off the inning unscathed. Philadelphia's Edmundo Sosa drove the southpaw's 1-2 fastball 379 feet to center field for a two-run shot, giving Philadelphia its first lead of the ballgame.

Offensively, the Dodgers mustered up what they could.
They scored two of their three runs against Jesús Luzardo via an Alex Call RBI single and a Santiago Espinal sacrifice fly.
Their third run came on Mookie Betts' RBI single in the seventh — his third hit of the game — but with the Phillies three-run eighth inning, the efforts were spoiled.
What's Next? With the loss, the Phillies snapped the Dodgers' six-game winning streak, and Los Angeles drops to a 37-21 record.
Ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto takes the mound on Sunday for the rubber game.
