OSU baseball to face familiar foes at Eugene regional in NCAA tournament

Oregon State baseball knows where it will start the 2026 NCAA postseason.
College baseball's regional selection show aired May 25 and placed all 64 playoff teams into their respective regional tournaments around the country. The Beavers, who finished the regular season 43-12 as the No. 7 team in the country, was left out as a host site and as a result will be on the road.

When regionals begin May 29, Oregon State will heading down Interstate 5 to Eugene.
Oregon (40-16) was awarded a host site as the No. 11 overall seed. Oregon State will be the second-seeded team at the Eugene regional.
The Ducks and the Beavers will be joined by Yale (30-13-1) and Washington State (30-26).
Oregon State's first game will be against soon-Pac-12 rival Washington State.
Regional tournaments are hosted by the top 16 national seeds and are a double elimination tournament between the four teams. The winner of each regional will advance to one of eight super regionals for an opportunity to claim a spot in the College World Series in Omaha.
Oregon State's regional tournament is paired with No. 6 Texas' regional featuring Texas, Holy Cross, UC Santa Barbara and Tarleton State. The winner of each regional will meet for a super regional.
Oregon State opponents at Eugene regional
Oregon was awarded the No. 11 overall seed and a host site after a 40-16 regular season and appearance in the Big Ten tournament championship game.
Oregon State split the two-game season series with its in-state foe.
The two met back on March 3 in Eugene, where the Beavers stormed to a 10-6 victory. Oregon State posted 10 runs on 10 hits and a conglomeration of seven different pitchers held the Ducks to six runs on six hits.
Oregon State and Oregon's second meeting was canceled April 14 but the eventual second meeting, meant to be the third, took place April 22 in Corvallis.
The Ducks got the better of the Beavers and won 7-3 off just five hits. Another six-man pitching rotation from Oregon State was responsible for 10 walks while just three of Oregon's seven runs were labeled as earned.
Across the season, Oregon boasts the No. 11 fielding percentage in the nation (.981) and is top 20 in home runs with a Big Ten-leading 56 bombs. The Ducks boast a slugging percentage above .500 and excel in both sides of the game.
Oregon holds the No. 15 rating percentage index, RPI, which played a major role in the regional hosting bid over Oregon State, who closed the season with the No. 18 RPI ranking.
Yale stamped its name in the 64-team tournament by way of an automatic bid from the Ivy League tournament. Yale is on a seven-game winning streak dating back to May 6 and extending through the three-game conference tournament.
Yale possesses the No. 144 RPI ranking, the highest in the Ivy League. Yale will be Oregon's first opponent at the regional.
Oregon State's first regional opponent, Washington State, earned an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament by winning the Mountain West Conference tournament.
The Cougars hold the No. 83 RPI ranking and possess strong one-off wins over Alabama, Cal Poly and Texas State, which all boast stronger RPI ratings.
Washington State also holds a win and season-series split with Oregon State.
In OSU and WSU's first meeting April 6, the Beavers swung their way to an 18-0 seven-inning win. Oregon State scored 18 runs off 11 hits and seven walks and smacked two home runs in Pullman, Washington.
Oregon State pitchers Eric Segura, AJ Hutcheson and Tanner Douglas nearly combined for a no-hitter in the game. Washington State collected just one hit while batters struck out 13 times.
The pair's second meeting the next day ended in a 7-6 loss for Oregon State. Washington State batters settled in for 12 hits while the Oregon State offense was held scoreless until the sixth inning.
Oregon State and Washington State will have a rubber match May 29 when the Eugene regional begins at PK Park on Oregon's campus.
