Which Bucks County softball teams are advancing in district playoffs?

The District One softball tournament is underway, with plenty of local teams looking to take home a coveted trophy and title. After facing record heat in Monday's openers, athletes had to contend with rain delays and postponements later in the week.

Nevertheless, rough weather wasn't enough to deter these determined softball stars.

Bristol, New Hope-Solebury title game moved to Tuesday

Bristol's quest for a 28th straight District One title will have to wait a few more days. The District One Class 2A title game between Bristol and New Hope-Solebury was moved from Thursday to Tuesday, May 26. Bristol and NHS were big winners in the quarterfinals, with both taking mercy-rule wins. The final is a rematch of last year's title game, which the Warriors won 9-4.

Dock Mennonite, Plumstead Christian rematch moved to Tuesday

Dock Mennonite is looking for its fourth straight district title, but they'll have to go through Plumstead Christian once again. Thursday's Class 1A title game was moved to Tuesday, May 26. Last season, the Pioneers defeated Plumstead 10-0 in the championship.

Villa Joseph Marie wins Class 3A title

The top-seeded Jems claimed their second straight District One Class 3A championship on Tuesday, defeating No. 2 Collegium Charter 15-0 in three innings.

Top Performances:

  • Delaney Radtke: The Jems' starter gave up a single hit and a lone walk through three innings while striking out six.
  • Markella Hadgimallis: The freshman hit two doubles, drove in three runs and scored twice.
  • McKenzie Peters: The senior catcher drove in two runs.
  • Megan Cassidy: Hitting ninth, the sophomore was 2-for-3 with a team-high four RBIs.

District One Playoff Results

Class 1A Semifinals:

No. 1 Dock Mennonite 15, No. 4 Christian Academy 0

The Pioneers took care of business in four innings to advance to the District One Class 1A championship game, where they will seek a fourth straight district title. 

Dock's Top Performances:

  • Bella Taylor: The freshman pitcher was perfect through four innings, striking out seven without allowing a hit or a walk.
  • Avery Kutzner: The sophomore was 3-for-3 with four RBIs.
  • Taelyn Landis: The sophomore hit a double and a triple and scored four runs.

No. 2 Plumstead Christian 20, No. 3 Delco Christian 17

After a wild semifinal featuring 27 hits, 37 runs and 17 errors, the Panthers claimed victory to advance to the Class 1A championship for the second year in a row. 

Panthers' Top Performances:

  • Brooke Dougherty: The catcher had five RBIs. 
  • Olivia Incudine: The pitcher had a major impact at the plate, driving in six runs on two hits, including a triple.
  • Campbell Jackson: The senior hit a pair of doubles and scored three runs.

Class 2A Semifinals:

No. 1 Bristol 17, No. 4 Faith Christian 1

The Warriors scored 16 runs in the second inning

Warriors' Top Performances:

  • Annabella Capriotti: The freshman started in the circle in place of senior Brianna Slack (who started at third base), and delivered, giving up one hit and an unearned run while striking out three.
  • Grace Boyle: The catcher led the Warriors with five RBIs on two hits, including a 3-run home run.
  • Lucianna Snyder: Her three hits were all doubles, and she drove in four runs. 
  • Amirah Bell: The senior leadoff hitter had two hits and scored three runs. 

No. 2 New Hope-Solebury 13, No. 3 Calvary Christian 0

Mabel Klossner was nearly perfect in the circle, while the Lions' batters racked up 11 hits to earn the win in five innings and make it back to the Class 2A title game.

Lions' Top Performances:

  • Mabel Klossner: The Lions’ starting pitcher gave up two hits and no walks while striking out nine through five innings. She also had three hits and two RBIs.
  • Juliet Freer: The freshman crushed a three-run home run.
  • Dagny Mobley: She was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. 

Class 5A Quarterfinals:

No. 3 Upper Moreland 4, No. 11 Upper Merion 0

The Golden Bears advanced to the semifinals for the second straight year after a five-inning shutout from star pitcher Delaney Stout.

Golden Bears' Top Performances:

  • Delaney Stout: The junior was masterful in the circle, giving up just one hit and two walks while striking out 10 through five innings. 
  • Claire Walton: She led the Golden Bears with two hits and two RBIs.
  • Jordyn Gibbs: She had two hits, including a solo home run, and two RBIs.

Class 6A Second Round:

No. 9 Plymouth Whitemarsh 4, No. 6 Council Rock North 3(11 innings)

It took two days, 11 innings, and immeasurable effort from CR North before the Indians’ season came to an end in heartbreaking fashion. 

Tuesday’s game was suspended in the ninth inning, tied 3-3. After resuming the game on Wednesday, PW scored the winning run in the 11th inning after a series of unfortunate events. With a leadoff runner placed on second base, an error allowed the base runner to score from second. The Indians looked like they would tie the game in the bottom of the inning. With a runner on second, Zoe Hardy successfully bunted the runner to third; Mia Covrljan also bunted, but PW’s first baseman managed to make the out at home plate. 

Indians’ Top Performances:

  • Mia Kiskurno: The sophomore pitched all 11 innings, giving up only 7 hits and 4 walks over the course of two nights, and striking out 9. 
  • Kayla Ripper: The senior outfield was 5-for-6.
  • Chelsea Seiler: The senior shortstop had two hits, including a double, drew a walk and drove in a run.
  • Allison Bodick: She hit a home run. 

No. 1 North Penn 11, No. 16 Perkiomen Valley 3

It took two days to complete, thanks to a rain delay, but after pausing the game with the Knights up 3-2, North Penn scored eight unanswered runs to secure the win.

Knights’ Top Performances:

  • Felicia Connolly: The star pitcher struck out 17 batters while giving up just three hits, two walks and one earned run.
  • Alana Battavio: The sophomore led the Knights with five RBIs, including a three-run home run.
  • Gabby Battavio: The junior drove in two runs, scored twice and drew a pair of walks.  

No. 3 Pennsbury 10, No. 14 Spring-Ford 3 

The Falcons put up 14 hits, with every starter recorded one or more hit in the win. 

Falcons’ Top Performances:

  • Syd Kandravi: She was 4-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored.
  • Paige Fidishun: The freshman standout pitched a complete game, giving up six hits and hree walks, with all three runs unearned. 
  • Maddie McClung: The senior had two hits and two RBIs.

No. 4 Souderton 4, No. 13 Council Rock South 3

Ava Detwiler hit a walkoff RBI-single in the bottom of the eighth inning to give Souderton the win in an intense game. While the Golden Hawks took an early 1-0 lead, Souderton led 3-1 after five innings. In the seventh, CRS loaded the bases on three straight walks and two outs. Jenna Pensapane then hit a grounder that scored two runs after an error to tie the game. Souderton’s pitchers combined to give up just two hits. 

Souderton’s Top Performances:

  • Katie Straub: The freshman pitched four innings, giving up two hits, one earned run and striking out five. 
  • Madi Mott: The sophomore pitched the final four innings and earned the win in relief
  • Ava Detweiler: The senior had two hits, including the game-winner in the eighth.
  • Skyler Barnes: She hit a solo home run and drew two walks. 

CR South's Top Performances:

  • Veronica Herzog: She drew two walks and scored a run.
  • Avery Ochs: The freshman had one of the Golden Hawks’ two hits, drew a walk, scored a run and drove in a run. 

No. 5 Neshaminy 4, No. 12 CB South 1

Neshaminy earned the win in five innings – not because of the score, but because of Tuesday’s long rain delay. Solid early hitting and strong pitching staked Neshaminy to a 3-0 lead in the third inning.

Neshaminy’s Top Performances:

  • Molly Ambrosius: The winning pitcher allowed just four hits and one run. 
  • Zahmira Coppola-Miller: The senior hit a two-run home run in the first inning, finishing with two hits and three RBIs.
  • Ellie Miller: She doubled, drew a walk and scored two runs.

CB South's Top Performances:

  • Erin Ruddell: The leadoff hitter was 2-for-2 with two doubles, a walk and scored the Titans’ run. 
  • Keira Im: The junior’s sacrifice fly scored the Ttians’ lone run.

Class 6A Quarterfinals:
