Araujo was quizzed on the incident and admitted he wasn’t too unhappy to see Real Madrid hit by problems ahead of such a big game.

“Fede is a great professional and a great person. I don’t know what happened, I’ll ask him when we’re with the national team,” he told La Revuelta.

“Did we talk about it at Barça? Of course, we were playing the Clásico next. A little trouble at our eternal rivals is always good for us.”

Araujo also spoke briefly about his future, hinting that he’s not thinking about an exit any time soon. He said: “I’ve renewed my contract twice, once recently, and I have one more renewal.”

Araujo’s current contract with Barcelona runs until 2031.
