The No. 14 Eagles saw their season come to an end Thursday in the Class 3A super regionals as the Rebels swept the best-of-three series with 5-0 and 6-3 victories.

Silo [31-6] used quick offensive bursts in both games to seize control early, while Sequoyah [20-18] struggled to generate enough timely offense to climb back into either contest.

In the opener, the Rebels broke a scoreless game open with a 3-run second inning.

Aiden McCarty started the scoring with a sacrifice fly before Blane Beauchamp ripped an RBI double to center field. Moments later, Zane Sander followed with another RBI double to push Silo's lead to 3-0.

The Rebels added another run in the third on another McCarty sacrifice fly and capped the scoring in the sixth when Nolan Northcott delivered an RBI single.

The Eagles managed just 2 hits in Game 1, 1 each from Ryder Smalley and Gunner Allison.

Smalley also battled on the mound, allowing 4 runs [3 earned] over 5 innings while striking out 1.

McCarty earned the complete-game shutout for Silo, scattering 2 hits over 7 innings.

Game 2 followed a similar pattern.

The Rebels immediately jumped ahead in the first inning behind a pair of doubles. Cannon Atwood drove in the game’s first run before Northcott blasted a 2-run double to make it 3-0.

Silo stretched the lead to 5-0 in the second when Northcott lined a 2-run single to left field, continuing a monster day at the plate for the Rebel infielder.

Northcott later added a solo home run in the fifth inning and finished 4-for-4 with 5 RBIs.

Sequoyah finally broke through in the fourth inning when Clayton Miller lifted a sacrifice fly to score Allison and cut the deficit to 5-1.

The Eagles threatened again in the seventh.

After Easton Hicks and Miller reached base, Wittaker Callery delivered an RBI single to left field to score Miller and make it 6-2. Moments later, Luke Shugart reached on an error that allowed Hicks to score and trim the deficit to 3 runs.

But the late rally ended there as Silo closed out the sweep.

Sequoyah collected 6 hits in the finale, with Smalley, Hicks, Derick Cole, Callery, Miller and Allison each recording 1. Callery, Miller and Shugart drove in the Eagles’ 3 runs.

Tyson Ketchum started on the mound and allowed 6 runs over 4 1/3 innings.

Sander added 2 hits for the Rebels, which totaled 10 hits in the second game.
