It was one of those things that flies a bit under the radar, but Shane Doan was a part of the Toronto Maple Leafs' front office.

That's no longer true.

The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun reported Monday that the two sides have parted ways.

Doan, the long-time NHL forward for the Winnipeg Jets and Arizona Coyotes, had 402 goals and 570 assists in 1,540 career games.

He played for Canada at the Olympics, and he's the father of Buffalo Sabres forward Josh Doan.

And now Shane Doan is looking for a new gig.

Why did Maple Leafs part ways with Shane Doan?

LeBrun writes that it "sounds like a mutal decision."

Doan had been hired by the former GM, Brad Treliving, and with a new front office in place seems to have been fine with going in a different direction.

The Vancouver Canucks did interview Doan for their GM job, but they seem to have a finalists list that doesn't include Doan.

He's 49 years old and could likely go a lot of different directions in the hockey world. Now, he's free to figure out what he wants to do next.
