Something hasn’t been right with Scottie Scheffler‘s game this season, but the scary thing for his rivals is that he is still enjoying a stellar season.

Scheffler is one of the hardest workers in the game, and there is no let-up from the 29-year-old when it comes to his practice routine.

However, he is clearly not hitting the heights that he reached last year, and Cam Young actually looks like the world number one right now.

Young posted a second round 67 to follow up his opening round 64, and he leads Scheffler by seven heading into the weekend.

Scheffler spoke to reporters after his second round at Doral on Friday, and responded when asked what he believes he needs to do in order to catch Young.

I definitely need to not get further away, Scheffler joked.

No, it depends on how the golf course is playing. All I can do is go out there and be committed to what I need to do and that’s pretty much it.

Scheffler is certainly capable of posting a couple of rounds in the mid-60s and chasing Cam Young down.

However, the question is whether his game is actually good enough right now to do just that.

Scottie Scheffler’s stats on day two of the Cadillac Championship

Scheffler’s ball-striking was actually very solid on day two in Miami.

He was ranked 13th in strokes gained off the tee and fifth in strokes gained approach.

However, Scheffler wasn’t at his best around the greens, and was ranked 42nd strokes gained chipping and pitching.

The 29-year-old was ranked 29th in strokes gained putting.

Scheffler definitely hasn’t been at his best with the flat-stick during the first two rounds of the Cadillac Championship, but if he can catch fire on the greens over the weekend, he may well be able to catch Cam Young.
