Is Steph Curry playing against Lakers on Thursday night?
· Yahoo Sports
Steph Curry vs. LeBron James has been one of the NBA's best rivalries over the past generation. Yes, it's frustrating to see how much spotlight these two still get in the twilight of their respective iconic careers. But their duels remain almost always appointment viewing. Unfortunately, injuries have robbed us of seeing the two play against each other so far this season.
That could finally change on Thursday night as James' Lakers visit Curry's Golden State Warriors.

After getting a vet's night off against the reigning NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday night, James will, in fact, play in Golden State. The trickier person to monitor here is Curry, who just recently missed 27 straight games with a "runner's knee." Curry has finally returned to the Warriors' lineup but has been coming off the bench to manage his minutes as the play-in tournament looms.
What does that mean for Curry's status against the Lakers? Well, it's complicated.
On the one hand, Curry is listed as questionable for the Lakers matchup as he and the Warriors continue to be cautious with his return from injury. With the Warriors locked into the West's No. 10 seed and a spot in the play-in tournament, there's also nothing really to gain from a team perspective by playing (or pushing) Curry when you can't even move up the standings.
The Warriors are now locked into the 10th seed. They’ll need to win two road games next week to get into the playoffs and a 1 v 8 matchup with the Thunder.

On the other hand, Thursday night is the Warriors' home regular-season finale. Because of their place in the standings, there's a very real chance it's their last home game until late October, when the 2026-2027 season begins. And again, they are playing James and the Lakers. I'd be kind of surprised if Curry doesn't at least play some spot minutes to put on a little show alongside James for his home fans.
It's been a tough season for the Warriors and their fans. Both could use a boost like this.
We'll see how the Warriors and Curry approach this rivalry matchup.
