Wisconsin had its worst outing of the season, as it rushed for just 52 yards, while neither of its quarterbacks hit 100 passing yards. Colton Joseph was benched for true freshman Ryan Hopkins, and the defense allowed Iowa’s Hank Brown to throw for 222 yards and two touchdowns on 20 of 24 passing.
It marked Wisconsin’s fifth straight loss to Iowa, with four coming under Luke Fickell. Now, the Badgers must regroup for a late season bounce back, starting with Rutgers on Saturday.
The Scarlet Knights are 2-6 and 1-4 in conference play, with their two wins being over Howard and Maryland. They’ve lost their last two to Northwestern and Michigan, getting blown out by 28 to the Wildcats before a close one-touchdown game last weekend to the Wolverines.
Wisconsin will start Ryan Hopkins, according to reports, as the Badgers look to spark their offense following a dismal outing.
