Four-star 2027 Arizona QB decommits from Washington football

The Washington Huskies got some more bad news on the recruiting trail on Monday morning when four-star quarterback Blake Roskopf, a product of Desert Edge High School in Goodyear, Arizona, backed off his commitment to Jedd Fisch's coaching staff.

The 6-foot-5, 235-pound signal caller, who is ranked as the No. 169 overall prospect and No. 14 quarterback in the 2027 class by the 247Sports Composite, had been committed to Washington since early April, choosing the Huskies over 29 other offers that included Indiana, Georgia, North Carolina, Oregon, and UCLA.

Now, the Huskies will have to shift gears quickly at the position with a month remaining before signing day, and could turn their attention to in-state four-star Sione Kaho out of Lincoln High School in Tacoma, a Stanford commit who was another priority Washington target before Roskopf announced his pledge.

"Big-framed distributor who gets the ball out accurately to multiple levels," 247Sports' Gabe Brooks wrote in Roskopf's evaluation. "Does not require a load-up to push the ball, likely a result of size and natural strength."

"Exhibits encouraging velocity, but also has shown touch nuance when attacking the deeper third...Not a dual-threat in the traditional sense, but possesses enough functional mobility to break the pocket and make throws on the move...Higher (interception) rate than many of his peers in the 2027 QB group, but showed some progress in that department as a junior."

Roskopf is the second blue-chip from Arizona to decommit from Washington's 2027 class in recent days, after four-star wide receiver Dontay Tyson flipped his pledge to Wisconsin on Halloween.
