Latest injury update on Tyler Huntley is bad news for the Ravens

· Yahoo Sports

The Baltimore Ravens went from best-case scenario to hitting the emergency button in less than one half of football on Sunday. Now, it appears that the emergency might last longer than expected.

Lamar Jackson returned to action after missing three straight games for the Ravens, but was injured on the first play of the game against the Bills. But backup Tyler Huntley also left the game injured, forcing the Ravens to turn to emergency quarterback Joe Fagnano.

After the game, Lamar Jackson was moved to the IR list due to his injury, worsening the Ravens' day. But now, reports indicate that Huntley is thought to have turf toe and will undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the extent of the damage, creating a potential worst-case scenario at signal-caller for the Ravens.

QB nightmare worsens for the Baltimore Ravens

If it is a more severe case of turf toe, Huntley could miss several weeks. Best case, he returns immediately, but even a mild case of turf toe can take 1-2 weeks to fully heal. The Ravens also have a short turnaround to a game against the Jaguars on Thursday night this week. So the Ravens will definitely want to develop a plan at quarterback quickly.

Fagnano went 10-for-21, passing for 91 yards and one interception on Sunday in a brutal loss to the Bills, but he does feel like the player the franchise would naturally gravitate toward if Huntley cannot play. But trade or free-agent options might be more appealing. And that still leaves the question of who serves as the backup.
