The Reds will be exploring their options in the right-back market for the next few years.
There will be high hopes for Conor Bradley to return to action, and it remains to be seen just when exactly that is going to happen.
It's likely that if anything Bradley will only return to partial training after the November international break. When he will actually be match fit is moot.
The target is probably beyond the new year - the same as Hugo Ekitike. Although the Frenchman is privately targeting a return that's a bit more sooner - potentially as early as Boxing Day in December.
Bradley's return will be a welcome boost but with the defender having been plagued by injuries, Liverpool cannot rely on him alone.
Liverpool's plans for the right-back role
There are strong speculations, and murmurs on social media about a possible return for Trent Alexander-Arnold. Liverpool would naturally love to have him back.
However, the question must be asked at what cost? Both his wages and a potential transfer fee likely will be quite high. Is it worth the risk to bring him back, when he is so low on confidence and he's also not getting any younger either?
Especially, since Ronald Araujo has done so well. The Uruguayan is settling into that right-back role and make it his own. In the process he has become a fan favourite at Anfield.
Right now, many supporters would likely admit they would prefer to sign him over Alexander-Arnold. There's also Jeremie Frimpong, who offers a different kind of dimension in the role but is also very injury prone.
Wonderkid Lewis John-Charles will be Liverpool's next right-back
Most people will not be familiar with the Reds' exciting young right-back, Lewis John-Charles. But Andoni Iraola will be.
The youngster actually spent the beginning of pre-season preparing with Liverpool's U21 squad and a handful of first-team players who had reported to the AXA Training Centre early.
At the time Iraola was watching over them, and John-Charles, who has since become an England U16 international, will have caught the eye.
The youngster is an all-action and dynamic right-back. His incredible work-rate and engine is pretty much tailor-made for how Iraola wants to play.
Sure, he is still young at the moment but with Araujo and Bradley making the club's right-back role their own, there's no rush for him to break into the first-team just yet.
Long-term, though, it's looking quite likely that he will be Liverpool's next right-back given he is by far and away the most talented player in his position in the academy.
