Coming off an All-American season for an Elite Eight team, Kenna Wollard was expected to again lead Purdue volleyball's hitting attack.

Just ahead of the regular season, Wollard was mysteriously absent from the Boilermakers before posting on her Instagram account she was "dealing with an unexpected health issue that will keep me away for a little while."

Wollard stated then she did not wish to share any more details at the time.

On Thursday, Oct. 29, Wollard shared more in-depth details.

In August, Wollard was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, which she announced Thursday is in remission.

"These past couple months have been so tough, but hearing the news today brought so much joy," Wollard posted on Instagram. "I still have some treatments left, but I am very hopeful for what's ahead."

Wollard returned to the Purdue bench on Sept. 2 for a short portion of the Boilermakers' win over Georgia. On Sept. 27, Wollard's return became more consistent.

Wollard has been along for the Boilermakers 2026 season since, sitting on the bench in street clothes. Shondell said last month he does not anticipate Wollard returning to play this season.

"It will be nice to have her with us," Shondell said on Sept. 27. "Hopefully she can give us an emotional lift a little bit."

Purdue enters Thursday's home match against Rutgers ranked 11th in the AVCA coaches poll with a 13-6 record.
