Tiger Woods expected to play in TGL season-opener in December, his first competition since rollover crash and arrest

Tiger Woods appears ready to compete with his Jupiter Links Golf Club in the new TGL season.

Woods will play with Jupiter Links GC, the club he captains, when the third TGL season kicks off on Dec. 27, barring any physical setbacks between now and then, according to ESPN's Mark Schlabach. Woods has not officially committed to playing just yet.

Assuming that happens, it'll mark Woods' first competitive golf outing since he appeared in a TGL match last season in March. But Woods was involved in a rollover crash just days later in Jupiter Island, Florida, and he hasn't played since. Woods stepped away from golf to seek treatment, something he reportedly did in Switzerland.

Woods, who was arrested on suspicion of a DUI, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of reckless driving and refusal to submit to a lawful test last month. His driver's license was suspended for five years as a result, too.

Woods hasn't played much golf at all in recent years. He ruptured his Achilles and underwent back surgery in 2025, and missed all four major championships last season as a result of his arrest. The 50-year-old has only played a full tournament three in his last 11 starts, and has otherwise either missed the cut or withdrawn. He last played on the PGA Tour at the British Open in 2024, where he missed the cut at Royal Troon.

There are a few other options for Woods to play competitively this fall, including at the unofficial Hero World Challenge that he hosts in December in the Bahamas. Woods could also play alongside his son, Charlie, at the PNC Championship. That 36-hole event would allow him to use a cart.

It's unclear what Woods' 2027 PGA Tour schedule would look like. He hosts the Genesis Invitational in Los Angeles each February, which could be an easy starting point for him before the major championships.

The TGL season will feature 14 regular-season matches and a four-team playoff, which is set to run from March 1-23 at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
